George Finch Mason (British, 1850-1915) watercolour of the finish of the 1896 Cesarewitch at Newmarket,
signed, titled ‘St. Bris Wins! The Cesarewitch, 1896’, watercolour heightened with gouache, in modern mounting and frame under glass, the image 24 by 34cm., overall 41 by 50cm.

St Bris was owned by Mr W Low, trained by John Porter at Kingsclere and ridden by Kempton Cannon.

Lots 10 to 34 Memorabilia relating to the Royal Jockey John Watts (1861-1902) and the jockey Kempton Cannon (1879-1951). The connection between the two jockeys being that Watts's widow married Cannon. Provenance: by family descent.
