George Finch Mason (British, 1850-1915) watercolour of the finish of the 1899 Cambridgeshire at Newmarket,
signed, titled ‘Irish Ivy Wins! The Cambridgeshire, 1899, watercolour heightened with gouache, in modern mounting and frame under glass, the image 24 by 34cm., overall 41 by 50cm.

Irish Ivy was owned by Captain Peel, trained in Ireland by W Behan and ridden by Kempton Cannon.

Lots 10 to 34 Memorabilia relating to the Royal Jockey John Watts (1861-1902) and the jockey Kempton Cannon (1879-1951). The connection between the two jockeys being that Watts's widow married Cannon. Provenance: by family descent.
