In the controversial final against A.C. Milan played on 16th May 1973 at the Kaftanzoglio Stadium Thessaloniki, A.C Milan defeated Leeds United 1-0. The final will be always be remembered for the refereeing decisions and Leeds United did attempt to gain a replay but the request was denied. The referee was later banned for life by UEFA for match fixing
