John Beer Jnr (British, 1883-1915) watercolour of the 1911 Cesarewitch at Newmarket,
signed and titled, a larger than typical example by the artist, watercolour heightened with gouache, mounted, framed & glazed, overall 48 by 66cm., good condition
The race was won by the outstanding stayer Willonyx owned by Mr Charles Howard and trained by Sam Darling. Willonyx also won the Ascot Gold Cup, the Ascot Stakes, the Chester Cup and the Jockey Club Cup.
