Our Rugby Department has brought to auction some of the most important items in the sport’s history:

 

Jonny Wilkinson 2003 Rugby World Cup Final Shirt 

The white and red No.10 shirt worn in the first half of England v Australia in Sydney, when Wilkinson’s drop goal later secured the World Cup in extra time. Sold for £30,000, a defining piece of English rugby memorabilia.

 

New Zealand ‘Original All Blacks’ Tour Shirt, 1905-06 

Worn by Ernest Booth during the historic tour of the British Isles and France. Sold for £25,000; Booth was part of the pioneering side that set the standard for New Zealand rugby dominance. 

New Zealand ‘Original All Blacks’ v England, 1905

Another rare jersey from the same tour, worn in the famous international at Crystal Palace on 2nd December 1905, remembered for England’s lone try in a 15-0 defeat. Realised £24,000.

1955 Rugby League Challenge Cup winner’s medal 

Awarded to Jack Grundy (Barrow) - Barrow’s only Challenge Cup triumph - plus his 1956–57 runners-up medal.

David Duckham Barbarians Shirt, 1973

The black and white No.14 shirt worn in the classic Barbarians v All Blacks fixture at Cardiff Arms Park, when Duckham’s brilliance contributed to Gareth Edwards’ “greatest try ever scored.” Sold for £14,000, a standout piece of Welsh and English rugby memorabilia.
