hallmarked Chrichton Bros., London, 1920, from the racehorse owner Marshall Field III, the inside of the hinged lid with engraved hand writing reading: C. B.-R-, FROM M. F., in memory of our first winner - Golden Corn - July-1-1921, 7 by 15cm., weight 626gr.
The Cecil Boyd-Rochfort-trained Golden Corn won the Fulbourne Stakes at Newmarket on 1st July 1921 for the American Investment Banker Marshall Field III (1893-1956). The filly would go on to win the prestigious Middle Park Stakes and the July Cup in 1923.
